The Best Oatmeal Cookies Ever

Today I'm revealing a secret family recipe. It's a recipe we've made hundreds of times. It's a recipe we've memorized.  My mom always has the ingredients on hand so we can satisfy any impromptu cookie cravings.  And today, I thought I'd share it with you all! Please, by all means, try it! My only request is that you pin it too!

Oatmeal Cookies
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup oil
1 1/2 cups plain flour
 1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
3 cups oatmeal
6 oz chocolate chips

Mix wet ingredients first. Slowly add dry ingredients except for oatmeal and chocolate chips and mix well. Gently stir in oatmeal and chocolate chips.
Bake at 350 degrees for 10 min.

Blogger Event Tips

Whether it be a fashion show, a new store opening, a blogger meet-up, or any fashion-related event, it's important to be prepared! I've been to quite a few of these events, so I thought I would share some of my tips! If you have any you'd like to add, please comment below!

1. Bring a Camera. This one is a no-brainer. Even if you're not planning on covering the event for your blog, you never know when an amazing moment might arise. You'll wish you had your camera! I use a Canon Rebel T3i which I would recommend for a good starter camera. For fashion shows, I'll even bring a 2nd lens for far away shots-- you never know where you'll be seated/standing.

2. Get an Eye-fi memory card. Ok, this one was life changing for me, and I have to thank my geeky tech hubby for finding it. It's a memory card for your camera that you can connect your phone to through wi-fi and instantly upload your photos to your phone. Yes, no more waiting until you get home to upload all your pics to your computer and then downloading them to your phone. No more having to take 2 separate photos-- one from your camera and one from your phone for Instagram. Give your readers live social media coverage with amazing camera-quality photos.

3. Bring your business cards (and a cute card case).  Better, yet- always have these stashed in your purse so you can network it! I used my logo designer's file to create my cards through Vista Print. They do a nice job and the price is great! I purchased my cute card case from R-ki-tekt.

4. Wear a statement outfit piece. These events are your chance to really take fashion risks; so go for it! Where else do you get to wear your hot pink crop top? A great pair of shoes or a great clutch (hint hint) are also good conversation starters. I've met some really sweet blogger ladies from shoe compliments.

5. Follow up! When you meet someone at an event, follow up with them ASAP.  Just a simple blog comment or Instagram comment will work.  Otherwise you'll forget them, they'll forget you, and all that networking is a wash.

Dalmatian Sensation

So there's a new clutch in town! I decided to take her for a spin this past weekend. We celebrated Matt's first Father's Day with a little al fresco dining and a stroll through Atlantic station. Finn loved it! I wore an easy, comfy jumpsuit, threw my hair in a bun, and added a t-shirt turban. (see DIY here).
My new dalmatian clutch was perfectly big enough for my phone, keys, lipstick, and credit card!

Inspired by: The Beach

Hi everyone! Not to make you too jealous, but I just got back from a wonderful trip down to the beach with my family. It was baby's first beach trip and we had a blast! You can find pictures of baby toes in the sand among other beach baby cuteness here!
The Story of the Clutch: With all of the relaxing and lounging around on the beach, I was really able to really clear my head. That's usually when I am most creative. I came home from the trip with the sewing bug and immediately sat down at my machine and cranked out this new design. I kept envisioning a large summer clutch with a handle that was in neutral colors that I could wear with summery travel outfits like this one. The stripes were a natural addition: inspired by the sandy beach. Then I added a rope wristlet strap to give it a nautical vibe. I'm thinking of adding it to the shop soon!
